Isaiah 55:8-9

On Saturday we decided to go see a referral that was up higher in our area. Since most of the missionaries that serve in Atlanta don't speak spanish we get a lot of referals from them, or basically they call us and say that there is a spanish family that they found that we could try to go and see. So, we drove up there, it was about a 20-30 min drive and we couldn't find the apartment complex. The gps told us to go down a street that didn't exist. So, we parked the car and started walking around looking for something but we didn't find anything. It was kinda frustrating. We called the Elders who had given us the address and they gave us directions to the complex. We drove to the complex and I recognized it immediately! I had gone there three or four times when I had been in my last area to eat dinner with a member! In the mission we serve in different areas with specific boundaries. So in my other area we had been leaving our boundaries (which I didn't know) to eat with these members. So we knocked on the door of the person we came to see and she wasn't really interested. Elder Taufa and I were really frustrated at this point because we felt like we had just wasted so much of our time looking for this person who didn't even want to listen to us. As soon as we got to the car Hermana Bautista drove up and parked her car. I was super excited because I really liked the Bautista's. We said hi to her and she invited us in her home. We talked with them for a while and shared a scripture with them. Hermano Bautista served his mission in Montana and part of Wyoming. As we were closing up and getting ready to read Hermana Bautista broke down and started to cry. She told us how she was going through a lot of things right now. She was working a lot and hadn't been to church the past two weeks. Her leg was hurting really bad and so was her back. She told us she had been praying all day and super stressed and then when she got home from work we were just standing there by our car waiting for her. I know her testimony was strengthened a lot, but so was mine. We were so frustrated all day because things weren't going as we planned, but if they hadn't had gone the way they did, we wouldn't have been standing by our car at the exact time she got home for work. Even though we thought we were wasting our time, the Lord was just putting us where we needed to be.

Have a Good Week!

La Obra Misional

These wednesday was Transfer day, but Elder Taufa and I were both staying here. So, we decided we needed to change things up for this next transfer and we changed up our whole appartment and deep cleaned everything. It was a lot of work but our appartment feels so much bigger and cleaner (it was clean before, but now it is CLEAN). I think it was really good for Elder Tuafa as well. He has been in this area for the same amount of time that I have been on my mission, about 7 months. He got super excited and he kept saying, "Our appartment is sick!" It was a good start to this transfer and we feel like we can just go to work now. So that is what we did this week! We worked HARD! We worked harder and did more in this week than I have done my entire mission! We had appointments everyday and were busy every second of everyday trying to get to and teach as many people as possible. We also were able to get with a lot of members with us this week and I feel like we are truely giving our all to the Lord and his work. Our Branch is on fire and our members are super excited for missionary work!

I'm doing really good and I'm really enjoying my mission. I'm learning a lot and still have a lot to learn. My spanish still has a lot of work and I've noticed that I need to work a lot more on my teaching skills. But I trust in the Lord in all I do and I know that as I do my best he will be able to use me to bless the lives those who are in need of my help.

Que Dios les bendiga,

Transfers...

This week is transfer week!! But both Elder Taufa and I are staying here in Sweet Water!!!! I thought for sure that I was going to get a new companion. But I get to continue serving with Elder Taufa which is awesome! We've been companions since October and we're on the same page! We both know the area, we know who we are working with, and we have the same desire to work hard and serve with all our hearts. We both love the people and I'm super excited for these next few weeks!
I love my mission! Something that's going on right now is Elder Taufa and I are trying to make our area a little smaller. We work from the edge of Atlanta all the way to Alabama. This week was the first time either of us went out to a city called Carrollton (you can look it up if you want) that is super far and out towards Alabama. There are a lot of hispanics out there! So it's just kinda fun to try talking to the Mission President and his assistents, and make things happen. This is a marvalous work and a wonder and a lot is happening.

Welcome to 2015!

Happy New Year!!
I hope you all had fun celebrating the new year! I'm excited for 2015!! It was a little different for me this year to think about 2014 and all that happened, and the to think about 2015 and what is to come. A lot happened for me in 2014 including graduating High School and leaving on my mission. In 2015, I will spend the entire year in the mission field doing the work of the Lord. It was kinda like, "wow... I'm a missionary!" So I made some goals and some changes, because my time is so limited. There is no better time then right now. Choose ye this day. (That's one of my favorite Mormon Messages by the way).

There were a couple days this week were it was really foggy and raining all day. I finally understand what it means to have a "rainy day." It was really hard to be excited about anything and I just wanted to take a nap or something like that. I guess it's kinda like when your running the mile or the 800. You're legs doin't always want to run and your whole body is telling you to stop, but you have to keep going.

A lot of our investigators aren't really doing anything. It's a little hard. It's almost like once they start to understand what we are teaching, they don't want us to come by anymore. They stop answering the phone and the door and they become imposible to get a hold of. It's hard becuase we've had a lot of really good lessons where the spirit was so strong. I think that the problem is that people don't want to change. And that is what the gospel is about. The gospel is about changing and becoming more like our Father in Heaven. And I understand them because I have seen the same thing in me. As a missionary I feel like I have so many weaknesses. At times, I just want to ignore everything and just be happy and content where I am at in life. But, Ether 12:27, The Lord gives us weaknesses so that we can be humble. And when we are humble we put all our trust and all the glory in the Lord. Then our weaknesses are made strong.

But, we did have two good lessons with Roberto and Lulu this week. We taught them the Resturation and the understood it very clearly. But they didn't come to church. Maybe that's where all that came from, haha. But they said they would read and we will see this week.

We have an investigator from Peru :) named Fausta. She has been an investigator for a couple years now because she can't get baptized until she get's married, and her husband/boyfriend didn't want to get married. But she comes to church evey week and half the members in the branch think she is a member. She just had a baby last sunday, Dec 28, and we went to see her yesturday. It was so wonderful to see a new born baby! The spirit was so strong! I couldn't help but think about Carter and Andrew, my nephews who I haven't seen.

May we all have a great year!
